:::Mission:::
Upon
my return to Afghanistan after 23 years, I fulfilled my dream of
contributing to the rebuilding of my country by establishing the Boumi
Company.
Boumi, a design and manufacturing firm, was launched in 2005 with an
initial local workforce that consisted of 15 women and 3 men. The
company is rapidly expanding with the goal of employing 300 Afghan women
and men by the end of 2006. Our new factory will be ready in September,
2006 at previously Bagrami Textile Factory next to the Bagrami
Industrial Park in Kabul.
Our goal is to build a successful business while creating much needed
sustainable employment opportunities for Afghan women and men.
Additionally, Boumi’s objective is to encourage manufacturing of
Afghan-made products with raw materials produced locally in Afghanistan.
Boumi is pioneering the design and manufacturing of high quality made in
Afghanistan products to cater to the discriminating needs of our global
clients.
It should be noted, however, that Boumi is more than just a company
trying to turn a profit. Boumi seeks to provide Afghans not only with
employment, but technical skill and design training so that its
employees may use the knowledge and experience gained in possibly their
own future commercial endeavors.
